A-level Maths and Further Maths tuition

Qualified former teacher based in Monmouth, South Wales, with PhD in Space Plasma Physics (University of London, 2004) and recent additional training (2019& 2020) in Teaching Further Mathematics (pure).

Offers online A-level maths and further maths tuition to motivated students using a collaborative approach.

Rates:

For the duration of the covid-19 crisis and in recognition of the financial pressures many families are under, my basic rate for online tuition via zoom or other means is £20 per hour, payable in advance. Rates are reviewed at the start of each academic year. Discounts for block bookings paid in advance may be discussed.

Sessions:

A standard session is 1 hour. If a student is late, the session will still end at the booked time and the full session fee is still payable. If a student fails to give 48 hours notice of cancelling a booked session without good reason (and ‘forgetting’ is not a reason), 50% of the session fee is payable.

I also offer shorter sessions of 15-20 minutes particularly now when students are spending so much time online which can be very tiring. Fee £10 per short session.

Policies:

I only take on A-level students. As such, I expect students to take an active role in sessions including appropriate tools, attending at the booked times, completing any pre-work or homework at agreed timescales. I expect parent/guardian/other responsible adult to fully support the student in this.

I do not take on students less than 6 weeks before an examination date.

If a student misses more than 2 booked sessions without adequate reason the tutoring arrangement will cease.

Students are entirely responsible for any coursework they submit to their teachers. Under no circumstances will I do a student’s homework or coursework for them.

Safeguarding:

I hold enhanced DBS. Should any safeguarding issues arise, I will notify appropriate bodies as required by law.

Please note I do not offer KS1-4 (GCSE) tuition.
